CURATORIAL WORK

Expanding ways of seeing, narrating, and understanding images from Latin America

Maíra C. Gamarra’s curatorial practice unfolds at the intersection of research, listening, critical writing, and the creation of contexts for the circulation of images. Her curatorial projects approach photography as a field of symbolic, political, and cultural dispute, engaging with questions of memory, territory, representation, power, and visibility.

Focused on Latin American production and anticolonial perspectives, her curatorial work spans exhibitions, festivals, showcases, projections, public programs, and processes of artistic support. Across different formats, her work seeks to create spaces for reading, dialogue, and displacement, expanding ways of seeing, narrating, and understanding images from Latin America.
